More than a print studio
Layers is where artists, galleries, interior designers and brands see their work the way it was meant to be felt. Explore finished pieces up close, see our materials and textures, and watch how a piece is built, layer by layer.
Three ways to start
Original artwork
Within the Netherlands, we collect your artwork, have it scanned in high resolution by our specialist partner and return it within a day. No need to arrange anything yourself.
Digital file, built in layers
Have a digital image? We create the relief and texture digitally, so it can still be printed layer by layer. This takes a little preparation in advance.
Digital file, straight to print
Have a print-ready file? Walk in or send it over and we print it directly on our eight-channel printer.
The Layers process
Start with an original or a digital file. Scanning is done by a specialist partner with equipment built for capturing artwork. Everything after that happens in our own studio in Joure.
01Your artwork or file
Within the Netherlands, originals are collected, scanned by our specialist partner and returned within a day. Digital files can be sent or brought in.
02Prepare
We prepare color and texture for each piece. Starting from a digital file, we can build the layers digitally.
03Print layer by layer
Our eight-channel printer builds up the relief layer by layer, recreating every brushstroke.
04Finish
A final varnish layer gives a semi-gloss or gloss finish, before the piece leaves our workshop.
